We did it!

On Sunday 12 July Chris (my son) and I, and 104 other cyclists, left Hayling with the Hayling Cycle ride in France.  We spent 6 days cycling 420 miles round the beautiful French countryside.

We arrived at St Malo early on Monday morning and after breakfast in the 'Old Town' we commenced our ride. First stop Rennes. The next day on to Laval passing through Vitre with the beautiful Chateau (pictured below).

On Wednesday we set out for Angers passing through Chateau Gontier where we met the additional 40 or so 3.5 day riders. On via Tours, Alencon, Caen and finally on Sunday 19 July to Ouistreham where we caught the Fast Cat back to Portsmouth. 

Once back in Portsmouth we cycled en mass, through Portsmouth to the Hayling Ferry and crossed to Hayling Island where a 'Welcome Home' reception awaited us.

So far I have raised £636 and Chris has raised £300. We don't know yet what the final sum will be. Twenty percent goes to the Hayling Charities and the remainder of the money goes to our chosen Charities. My chosen Charity this year is the Portsmouth Branch of the MS Society and Chris's is the Rowan's Hospice. Please e-mail me if you wish to make a donation.
